As quickly as it became active again, it looks like this blog is, once again, going on hiatus. Why? Because I’ve discovered the Press This bookmarklet for WordPress.

That little bookmarklet will, in essence, let me do with WordPress what I’ve been doing with Tumblr—-quickly and easily posting little tidbits from around the ‘net.

Tumblr is great fun. But I like the power and functionality of WordPress, and the Press This feature has made it so that I can easily “tumble” to my WordPress blog.

Personally, I think the idea of a high-speed bullet train running the Edmonton-Calgary corridor would be awesome. It would open up a lot of economic opportunities for people; depending on how much it cost to ride the rail, I could see people choosing to live in Red Deer—-where they would presumably pay less for housing—-and then commuting to Edmonton or Calgary for work (and for play).

More info on the fire mentioned in my previous post. Turns out I got the info wrong. The fire was yesterday afternoon, not this morning.

That would explain the plume of smoke I saw coming from the northeast when I was driving around on Sunday (though, I had guessed it was coming from somewhere farther east than it actually was).

I was reading an article online yesterday that made mention of “The Vagina Monologues.” One of the contextual ads that showed up on the page was titled “What Men Want.” I can only assume this ad was served up because the word “vagina” was in the article.

I really wish I had thought to take a screenshot.

Stelmach Tories pledge to axe health-care premiums if re-elected:

The Ed Stelmach Conservatives will gradually phase out health-care premiums by 2012 if they’re re-elected next month.

I’m still not likely to vote for them, but I’m certainly not opposed to the elimination of heath-care premiums. They’ve always struck me as a bit un-Canadian.

I’m a huge fan of Twitter. It’s revolutionized the way I receive information. I often get breaking news via Twitter long before I hear about it in the mainstream media and even other online newsources—the most recent example being the death of Heath Ledger.

But, despite being one of my favourite web tools, Twitter has it’s problems. Shel Israel’s open letter to Twitter co-creators Evan Williams and Biz Stone sums up a lot of my own feelings toward the service, and what can be done to fix it (although, he’s wrong about the blog, they already have one).
